Get off the internet (I'll meet you in the streets)

I've been thinking a lot about this, and it makes me angry.

Within the realm of feminist activism (and feminist community), there is this cloud of judgment that hangs over those of us who activate our activism online. Even if we are demonstrating, flyering, etc on street level, our online activism is brushed aside--as if it doesn't even matter. It's not "good" enough.

Happy 44th Birthday, Kathleen Hanna

Happy 44th Birthday, Kathleen Hanna

Today is the 44th birthday of feminist musician and activist, Kathleen Hanna. Her work and her personality has meant so much to me over the years.  In 2010, I had the chance to interview Kathleen, and I couldn't believe it. Her answers were amazing (as I knew they would be), and I was so thankful that someone as busy (and as cool!) as her would say "yes" to being interviewed by little ol' me.

My Kathleen Hanna Memento

My Kathleen Hanna Memento

When I was 18, I wrote Kathleen Hanna a long, cheesy letter about how much her music has helped me, etc, etc. I didn't really expect to get anything back. I kind of just wanted to know that she would see it and hold it in her hands (how creepy does that sound?) Anyway, this lady is awesome, because she wrote me back the sweetest little note (along with a couple of Le Tigre stickers). So, please, everyone, feast your eyes on the below. Maybe someday I'll get to meet her...
